When three become one
08-07-2007 02:22 AM
Description: Yes the file is huge but I wanted to show detail, this is my first attempt at putting three shots into one, which is what a panoramic, am I right on that, or is panoramic 360 degrees?

This was shot in Oregon.

It doesn't have to be 360. Panorama is a wide view. Very well done!!!

Thanks folks, and Coltran, you ever have a chance to get a camera, you get one! It's so worth it.

Very well done Chica - you can't see the joins! Did you use Photomerge in Photoshop to do this?

(PS: coltranE - you definitely should get a camera, but beware: they're totally addictive!)

Look at it carefully and you did a great job. The sellotape marks can't be seen.

It's pretty well hidden - select File > Automate > Photomerge... and then follow the instructions. There are 3 simple guidelines to remember when taking the photos that you plan to merge:
  1. Use a tripod
  2. Use a fixed aperture so that the depth of field doesn't vary
  3. Aim for a 25% - 30% overlap in each of your photos
If you do the above, it will be a very simple task for the Automerge function to stitch your photos together.
Here's one I made some time ago from 5 photos: http://www.waterden.net/stuff/panorama.jpg

Wow yours is incredible Tamlin! I just checked out the photomerge, and very cool, I hope to go on a road trip soon and work on some more panos.
