There are a lot of great features in this design, but they all get a little diluted since there really is no focal point.

You might want to enlarge part of it (the text or one of the background elements) to strengthen the design.

Also something to keep in mind that many forget about is the way the eye is drawn by the graphics. Ideally the eye would be drawn to the club name since that's what you are promoting, but the direction the woman is looking and the direction of the hands of the people (even the waves from the speakers) all lead you to the middle part of the right hand side.

Hope that's not coming across as too critical, but again all of the great design elements in this piece should be given a chance to shine.

hi stiney

i like it when people comment because it help's to show where i might of gone wrong or done better.

the text is fine i did'nt want to overload the design with text as i wanted people to see the design, club promoter's love to put as much as they can on a flyer so a lot of the time the punter never really get's to see the design.

your right about the image's making thing's diluted yes there are many different image's and maybe to many i thought of lowering the opacity levels like i did with the lion i faded in the background it would of given a more focus to one object than many " point taken and very helpful i'll try that next time " i know it looks busy but i wanted people to look around.

another good point you have noticed is that the woman is facing away and you pick up on other aspect's that many are facing the same way, thank you for pointing that out i did'nt realise that.

the promoter wanted the hands reaching out for the logo that's above them right hand side the logo looks tackey and i should of opacity it down so it's not the crystal clear to the eye.

thanks for your comment's stiny i glad that you noticed thing's
that could look wrong, your not being critical your telling me what your eye see's and that's truthful and also that's what i like because i like people to leave comment's on my work
that's one of the reason's i like biorust i'll like the fact that other's can put input into your work that you may see where you could of done a bit better or tried something different.

thanks again stiny for your comments.

In regards to drawing viewers attention.. Stiney is absolutely right about the direction of faces and hands etc... but also, the eye will first focus on the lightest object in the picture (Because it reflects the highest frequency of light which hits our retina first).

This makes the whispy white areas of fog and wave the first things I focus on... in this case, i find my eyes rest in the same right middle spot Stiney points out, and then they fall down towards the whisp at the bottom and the blue and pink mixer.... unfortunately, away from the club name or event name....

Just some constructive points...

Mike.

all right mike

yes stiney is right about the direction of the face and hands.

again well point out mike about the fog and wave, when you look at her face it make's you look off the flyer but if you follow her eye line it hit's the orange glow which makes you stay there as well.

like you said from the mist to the turntable it stop's.

maybe i should redo a different version of the design with her face pointing inwards into the flyer. what do you reckon.

thanks for your comment's mike much needed.

andy.
