Bee in a Huff
02-28-2008 02:35 PM
Description: Shot in my neighbor's garden. I had fun one day with the Bumble Bees.

Incidentally, the image of the bee flying has to be an optical illusion since science has proven these creatures incapable of flight. ;-)

I have heard the same thing about certain commercial airplanes.
perhaps this is the final proof we need of "mind over matter"

nice freezeframe.
a quick google search puts wingspeed at somewhere between 100 and 400 flaps per second.
so i am wondering what your shutter speed was. it appears to be slightly slower than the bees wings.

I am fortunate that the camera I use, Sony F828, is not a DSLR and therefore flash synchs at virtually any speed. If memory serves this was about a 1/1000 shot with fill flash.

Racoon good observation. That is very cool how it reflects. I think the image is cropped well with the bee having a space to go. It being more or less empty makes his departure look just like you say, a Bee in a Huff. Really nice photograph.
