One of the coolest things I do is collect bugs with my son in the spring and summer. If we know what it is, or at least what it eats, we will keep it and see what it turns into....funny thing about bugs, they go through so many changes. I am not sure what kind it is, but my best guess would be a Tiger Swallowtail. We will know in about 2 weeks, it cocooned a few days ago

that's sounds like a fascinating hobby to share with your son... never thought about the different stages of life for bugs much... would be interesting to document with photos the different steps
