So how do you shoot these? Do you use a strobe flash?

This is made with a special equipment. This device as a sound sensor and it's connected to a special Metz flash. This flash can fire several times with microseconds diferences. When the arrow strikes the balloon the sound triggers the flash. The speed of the camera does not matter because the camera sensor captures only what the flash shows.

The Discovery channel did a special on hi-speed one time. That was cool, but this is cooler, because you actually have time to closely examine it.

Thank you guys.
There's a big plastic under the balloon to catch the water...but like you cleverly observed Tony...afterwards it's really a big mess...Ha Ha.

That's really cool! Is that a small dart, it looks bigger then what it should be.

Yes Chica it's a dart, the size is normal, maybe the balloon looks smaller because of the water weight.

Very cool project. Thanks for Sharing. The arrow was a mystery. Thanks for clearing that up too.
