actually its a memorial to firefighters, police officers and service men I think that had served our area. I think I am a bit to late to really rescue it though. It was shut down over a decade ago and has sat neglected because city lacked funds to keep it going. They just let it go. I heard there was much debate over this and many letters written to our local newspaper complaining about its demise. Sadly, considering the economy... we may see lots more of this type of thing happen I think because our cities are cutting budgets drastically now days. Our parks are now losing funding and will not be taken care of until economy makes a rebound for instance.
