Maybe lowering the exposure on the kit and drummer to make them more silhouette-like would increase the illusion of shooting into strong stage lights, but overall an excellent effort. Did you use a plugin (something like Luce or Light Factory) or was it all hand-made?

This was all hand made , the good old fashioned layer mask to extract him then lots of layers behind him with various blurs and a couple above him with reduced opacity so you could see him through the light , i didnt want to silhouette him too much and wanted to leave some shine off the kit.

i like the overall effect... it reminds me of a shot I got of a drummer using my old Pentax SLR with a star filter... would be cool for music poster or promotion I think
